UCAN today released another update for the Examinator, the software tool for automatic test statistical analysis and evaluation of exams. Besides a focus on the interoperability with other tools the latest update includes various wishes expressed by partner faculties at this year's Partner Meeting in February 2014.

The Medical Assessment Alliance has decided to rename itself in order to reflect the ongoing internationalization and inclusion of other existing assessment networks. Henceforth all activities will be conducted under the name UCAN (Umbrella Consortium for Assessment Networks (UCAN).

The 7th annual meeting of the German-speaking UCAN partners took place on 10th and 11th February 2014 in Heidelberg. At the meeting, study deans, assessment experts, IMS administrators as well as students from 20 faculties met and discussed the strategic, technical and scientific goals of the alliance.

End of November saw the accomplishment of the first medical assistant exams composed and reviewed with the IMS. During the two exams conducted by the Chambers of Physicians in Westfalen-Lippe and Nordrhein, skills and knowledge of examinees were successfully assessed.

Since this week our Support Ticket System also uses an encrypted and secure connection via HTTPS- protocol. Furthermore, a language switch allows users to switch between English and German.

With the „European Board Examination in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery“(EBE ORL- HNS) and the „European Society of Intensive Care medicine“(ESICM), two European medical specialist societies started to use IMS tools for their key exams.

Together towards excellent exams

Note: UCAN is the new name af the Medical Assessment Alliance

Good exams matter. They are an essential part of the learning process in any discipline. Top-quality items, state-of-the-art quality management and judicial security are therefore pivotal for modern assessment. Yet at the same time most educational institutions have to cope with scarce resources for exams – a difficult task.

Instead of facing these challenges alone, UCAN empowers actors in the field of educational assessment to work together: cooperate in networks, complement your resources and share your knowledge - we would be happy to assist you with our experience and our passion for good exams! Learn more...
